Hot Strike First Sing Second Flag US Shirt
I think it's slang from the Hot Strike First Sing Second Flag US Shirtrestaurant industry that's been adopted by some people outside of it. I worked in a restaurant 20 years ago in Chicago and the chef wrote on a chalkboard in the kitchen; “86 CORN” to let us know not to sell corn. About 10 minutes later a new server walked in and scratched out the “86” and wrote “85”. The chef looked at her like. She looked at him and said she sold one. It's common in the restaurant industry. If you're out of, say, steak, you'll tell the servers to "86 the steaks". I've heard it before and your question led me to look it up. The origins are not well established. He is gonna look at receipts and old online orders trying to figure it out. Eventually he will complain to the company he ordered from. They will just think him senile and it will drive him further off the deep end
